Litter Number Application
Use one
of these forms to register a litter with NARR. The
Breeder's registered prefix is placed within the rat's registration number
for easier tracking. Both the sire and dam of a litter must be
already registered
as breedable for the litter to receive a number.
There are two forms available. The first is the "standard" Litter Number Application
and is used when one breeder owns
both the sire and the dam. The second is the Alternate Litter Number Application
and is used
when the sire and dam are owned by two different breeders - in essence
a "co-bred" litter. A co-bred litter will receive a litter number with
the prefix of the dam's owner, and rats may then be registered with either
the prefix of the dam's owner, or both the dam's and sire's owners
(customary).
These forms are reserved for those that want to
register all individuals from a litter. In the database, they show connection via the
same litter. It is therefore expected that all individuals you report in the
litter number application will also be registered individually, including those
that died during nesting (there are a couple options with this.. contact us for
more information). If you only
intend on registering a couple or rats from a given litter, do not register the
litter. Rather, just fill out individual registrations forms. However, for a more complete
database, we encourage you to register all rats.
Any breeder submitting an application for a litter number
must be a current NARR member. For cobreedings, both the breeders must be current
NARR members. Litter number applications, as well as all individual member
registrations, must be submitted and completed within 6 months from the date of
birth of the litter. NARR reserves the right to not issue new litter numbers for
members who consistently do not complete their litter registrations (babies can
still be registered as individuals, though).
