Custom NARR Forms
for Breeder's Assistant
Configuring
BA to work with Custom NARR Merge Forms
There are several
elements required for BA to work properly with these forms. I am assuming
that all features of BA are used to the fullest extent (such as contacts
and advanced rat records), as all of the fields on the forms pull from
standard fields in BA.
These Forms DO require
that PDF support be enabled. You need to download this file (install-getpdfpage.exe)
and make sure it's installed on your 'C' drive, even if your operating
system or BA are installed on another drive. It simply *will not* work
on another drive.. trust me, I've tried!. The forms provided on this
page are not the same forms as the standard BA forms, they are slightly
altered from the original forms to work more effectively with BA. The
regular NARR forms WILL NOT work properly, so please use the forms on
this page for use in BA.
If
you are using a Mac with a windows emulator to run
BA, these forms can be installed and used, I am working on getting
the specifics for those that have trouble setting them up, but it
has been done!
In
Contacts:

-
Rattery
Name: The forms assumes a that a simple naming convention
is used for Rattery prefixes and Names. Simply stated, in the
Rattery field in the Contact Details, General Tab, the rattery
initials are listed first, followed by a comma, then the rattery
name, for example in the image above, "LSRC,Lone Star Rats
of Central Texas" is shown in the Rattery field. A space
after the comma is ok, but will alter alignment on the forms
slightly. It will not cause any problems.
-
NARR
Membership ID: Is stored in the "No." Field
in the Contacts Details, General Tab, as seem in the image above.
Since at the time I took the snapshot there I had not yet been
assigned a membership ID, I have "Pending" in
this space, which was really only a note to myself to update
it when I received my ID.
-
NARR
Membership Type: Since I am a gold "plus" member, I
only have this one option set up, it looks for the "Other" flag
in the contact record, and if checked, places a mark in the "Gold
Member" box on all forms.
In Rats:

-
"Pet
Only" Status: This one doesn't use a custom flag,
but it checks to see if the "For Breeding" flag in the "More" tab
is checked. If it is, the "Pet Only" box is not checked,
and if "For Breeding" is not checked, i.e. the animal
is "non-breeding" then the "Pet Only" box on
the form is marked.
-
Registering
Body and Number: The program assumes that the NARR is the
first registering body used in the rat record, and pulls the registration
number used on the forms from that field. You can change it to the
2nd Registering Body if you use that for NARR, by editing the merge
field in question in design mode. The Litter Registration Number
is already filled out when you enter it in Mating details for rats
you have bred, but if you have adopted a rat from someone else which
already had a litter registration number, you may enter it here and
it will appear on the litter member form.
-
Types: These
pull directly from the Color, Pattern, Ear, Eye, Coat, and Tail fields
in rat details.
- For the Transfer
of Ownership Form, for now, the information for the "New
Owner" is pulled from the "Owner #2" Field, so if you
want that information filled out on the printed form, you can set the
second owner to the new owner, and any information you have in your
database about the new owner will be included on the form. The "Current
Owner" is still assumed to be you, so don't update your BA RAT
record to reflect the new owner until you have printed the form.

Updates/Changes
Made:
- 11/15/03
- More much needed updates!
- All forms updated
to match the redesigned NARR forms available from the main forms
page
- Added extra
spaces in the transfer form to accommodate longer registration
numbers
- Added some
health info fields on the litter member form, as well as the DOD
and cause. Young deaths happen sometimes and should be recorded,
and offspring of rats with a genetic illness are now granted free
registration, so including health info on the form may encourage
others to register more rats who have "problems"
- 2/20/03
- Much needed Updates!
- Added Litter
Application w/ Co-Breeder and Transfer of Ownership forms
- Altered
all forms to use PDF versions of the NARR forms - no more images!
- BA
importable forms and all PDF files are now available in a single
ZIP package or as individual downloads
- 12/24/02 -
Fixed error in the e-mail field in Litter Member Registration
- 12/27/02 -
Fixed the sex field on forms to reflect both Male/Female and Buck/Doe,
if you are using another non-standard naming format, please contact info@ratregistry.org
for instructions on how to edit the forms to reflect those changes.
